A Ru-Doped VTi2.6O7.2 Anode with High Conductivity for Enhanced Sodium Storage

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are considered a potential replacement for lithium-ion in the area of low-cost large-scale energy storage. Due to its low operating voltage, high capacity, non-toxicity and production cost, titanium dioxide is now among anode materials under investigation shows most promise. However, poor electrical conductivity one main reasons limiting application. Herein, we designed ruthenium-doped anatase-type VTi2.6O7.2 ultrafine nanocrystal (Ru-VTO). As SIBs, Ru-VTO delivers specific capacity 297 mAh g−1 at 50 mA g−1, long cycle life 2000 cycles rate capability (104 1000 g−1). The excellent performance may be related solid-solution interatomic interactions enhanced after ruthenium doping. These studies demonstrate as an material advanced SIBs.

The ultra-fast (30C or 2 min) rate capability and impressive long cycle life (>5000 cycles) of Na2Ti6O13 are reported. A stable 2.5 V sodium-ion battery full cell is demonstrated. In addition, the sodium storage mechanism and thermal stability of Na2Ti6O13 are discussed.
